One of my favorite ways to start the day is always with a good cup of coffee and a trip to Target! Today was a little more fun than my normal Saturday morning shopping trip for a few reasons. I was being joined by my beautiful friends Kylah and Karen.
Karen is one of my beautiful friends, who until today, only ever wore mascara. WHAT?!?! HOW?!?! I mean honestly though, she's gorgeous without a stitch of makeup. Karen works with Kylah and had noticed that recently Kylah was looking a little different. Here's why...
About a month ago I introduced the lovely Kylah to the world of makeup. She too, a natural beauty like Karen had never really worn it, didn't know how to buy it or apply it. I love hearing that! My ears instantly perk up and I automatically go into makeover mode. Not because I think everyone needs makeup but because it's fun to take a blank canvas and turn it into a beautiful piece of artwork. I love to teach my friends how to do this and show them how to enhance their natural beauty. Now that Kylah is a month in, I think she has more makeup than me and she's loving all of the options she now has.
So armed with coffee and coupons (thanks to Kylah the Coupon Queen) we headed to the health and beauty aisles at Target. We started with primer and worked our way to fake eyelashes and brushes. Of course we searched for deals and used coupons as much as we could. Beauty on a budget girls! (E.L.F. brand rocks) An hour later and anxious to get back to the house for the transformation, we headed out.
Back at the house, we set up mirrors side by side, plugged in a huge spotlight so we could see and unwrapped and organized all of Karen's purchases. The way I teach is hands on. We sat side by side, clean faced and armed with tools. I did my makeup right along with her showing how to do each step. I actually drew a face on a piece of paper and we labeled it as we went, paint by numbers style. If she does it herself, she'll get a better feel for how to do it. Today's lesson was a more natural approach but can be made more dramatic if necessary. We actually ended up doing a total eyebrow reshaping mid makeup which made a huge difference in the shape of her eyes.
After about a 45 minute lesson....this was the final result!
She looks absolutely stunning and she did it all with her own hands and little guidance! It was a perfect morning! She is going to try and recreate the look tonight before she goes out. It was so much fun and I can't wait to find my next willing victim!
Make it a beautiful Saturday!
